What Is a Cochlear Implant?
A cochlear implant is a medical device that has been designed to provide a sense of sound to individuals with significant hearing loss. Unlike hearing aids, which are sound amplifiers, cochlear implants bypass the damaged parts of the inner ear and directly stimulate the auditory nerve.
This form of technology allows many adults to better understand speech, improve communication, and reconnect with everyday sounds that may have been largely lost over time.

Device Programming & Activation (Mapping)
After surgery, your cochlear implant is activated and carefully programmed to match your unique hearing needs. This process is known as mapping.

Post-Operative Care & Ongoing Support
Your hearing journey does not stop once your cochlear implant is activated. We closely monitor your progress to ensure you are achieving the best possible results with your cochlear implant.
This includes performance checks, troubleshooting any technical issues you may have, and performing aided testing to measure improvements in speech recognition. Adjustments are made as needed.

Auditory Rehabilitation
Learning to hear with a cochlear implant takes time and practice. Our team provides guidance and resources to help you adapt to new sound experiences.
Rehabilitation focuses on improving speech understanding, sound awareness, and your ability to listen in challenging environments. When appropriate, staff will collaborate with speech-language pathologists to support your progress.
